Laura Kilmartin calls a small lakeshore town in Michigan home where she lives with her husband and three daughters. There, life is filled with outdoor adventures, family time, and a whole lot of heart. When she is not writing, you'll find her hiking, enjoying the beach, tending her garden or keeping up with their ever-growing crew of animals. A devoted homebody at heart, Laura loves to cook, hunt for classic books in antique shops, and linger over coffee well past noon.
Before turning to children's literature, Laura spent years as an Athletic Director, working closely within schools and witnessing firsthand the profound impact that teaching kindness and acceptance can have on young lives. That experience became the heartbeat of her writing.
Laura's goal is simple but powerful: to give children real-life examples of the goodness that exists in all of us and to make sure every child can see themselves in her stories. With a voice that weaves warmth, humor, and genuine heart, her books leave readers of every age smiling and eager for the next page.
